- West Sacramento Latino Ministries In partnership with Sacramento Presbytery, Trinity Presbyterian Church is working to bridge language and cultural gaps that divide God’s people. Led by Rev. Tina Torres, we are building a Latino ministry that will eventually be part of a bilingual and multicultural church.
- Take-a-Seat, Reflections Presbyterian Church (NCD) After moving from store front to office complex, Reflections Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), a new church in Meridian, Idaho, has settled into its home. However the chairs, which were purchased ten years ago, are now in bad condition. Take-a-Seat is a financial campaign to replace the worn-out chairs with new, comfortable seating for the congregation.
- Ring Praise Music Ministry The mission of Ring Praise Music Ministry is to tell the saving story of Jesus Christ through music, scripture and hymn history. The partnership of Phyllis Tincher on handbells and Sean Rogers on keyboard began in 2002 when Phyllis was asked to ring a solo at a church in Boise where Sean was the accompanist.
- Joining Hands Sacramento Joining Hands Sacramento is a project of the Sacramento Presbytery in conjunction with the PC(USA) Hunger program which connects 10 different presbyteries with 10 international partners for support and solidarity projects in various countries.
- Vietnamese Evangelistic Outreach We praise the Lord for His work and grace in growing our ministry at Vietnamese Evangelic Outreach (VEO), Stockton (CA) so we may proclaim the Gospel among the growing Vietnamese community in Stockton and the surrounding area.
- Helping Hand of Pendleton, OR Helping Hand of Pendleton, OR provides goods and services to persons in need. They receive funds, food, and other goods from private donations, church giving, and government grants. individuals and families without sufficient income to provide for the basic needs of both local residents and travelers “just passing through” are served. Donations are needed to meet the increasing needs in these difficult economic times.
- Phillippine Partnership Almost ten years ago, when Presbytery of Sacramento wanted to establish an international partnership, they turned to North East Southern Tagalog Conference (NESTCON) of the United Church of Christ of the Philippines (UCCP), located on the island of Luzon in area east of Manila.
- New Hope Presbyterian Church (NCD), Elk Grove, CA New Hope Presbyterian Church is a new church being formed by the Presbytery of Sacramento in the fastest growing city in California.
- Emmaus House Emmaus House in Hollister, CA is a retreat and shelter for battered women and their children plus counseling and a 24-Hour Hotline. This program was begun by Pastor David Rodriguez who pastored the Hollister Church and has become a ministry of many of the churches in the Presbytery of San Jose and Presbyterian Women.
- Fresno Interdominational Refugee Ministries, Inc. (FIRM) FIRM mobilizes churches to minister to Southeast Asian and other refugees in Fresno through a variety of programs.
- Westminster House (Berkeley) Westminster House offers off-campus housing for UC Berkeley students in two facilities accommodating 175 students at full occupancy. It has a variety of programs and activities intending to connect the campus community with Jesus the Christ.
- Kyros Ministry (San Mateo) Kyros provides leadership within the Presbytery of San Francisco, its churches and the broader national religious communities to create healthy power relationships, prevent misuse of power, and protect those at risk of abuse.
- Good Samaritans of the East Bay (Oakland) With an objective of providing compassionate ministry for homeless people, a number of Korean Presbyterian Churches, as well as those of other denominations, have provided leadership to serve meals to over 100 people weekly as well as at special events.
- Hurricane Recovery in Houma, Louisiana Each year since the Huricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav, and Ike washed away many homes in the Gulf Coast area, the Presbytery of San Jose has sent groups to Houma, Louisiana to repair homes. The next group will be there November 8 -14.
- Loaves and Fishes Family Kitchens, San Jose Loaves & Fishes Family Kitchen has been serving the working poor, families, homeless and seniors living in and around the downtown and East Side of San Jose for more than 27 years. What began as a simple first meal of fish and bread for 11 adults and 15 children has grown to 1,000 meals per week, served with dignity. Loaves & Fishes is committed to providing free, nutritious meals and support services in a dignified, safe, and caring environment. These services are provided to all needy individuals, with special concern for families and senior citizens.
- The Welcome Ministry (San Francisco) When the Welcome Ministry was founded in 1996, our initial mission was to work with the homeless. In 2008, our work resulted in over 155 people moving indoors, causing the Welcome Ministry board (in 2009) to change both our name and our mission to: WELCOME – a communal response to poverty. We continue to work with the same low income individuals to help them learn the skills they need to remain indoors, to improve their quality of life and to become self-sustaining individuals. We are also helping congregations to respond to poverty in their neighborhoods by helping them to create community gardens to grow food for those in need.
- Missional Teen Bible Study (West Sacramento) What makes a teen Bible study missional? Instead of youth coming to the church building across town, this study goes to where they already hang out. In the mall next to West Sacramento’s new high school, adults from Trinity Church meet at a Subway sandwich restaurant (boys) and a Starbucks Coffee store (girls) to connect with kids where they are (spiritually and physically).
- 2009 Mission Trip to "BIRDS" in Central India - Biodiesel and Toilet Project The toilet project which helps protect the people from dysentery, which kills 400 villagers a year only costs $50.00 each. The biodiesel project will save BIRDS from the expensive cost of fuel to run their school bus, tractors, vehicles and back-up generator.
- 2009 Mission Trip to "BIRDS" in Central India - Sponsor Dalit Children for School BIRDS is a non-profit center that serves and empowers the Dahlits (Untouchable Caste), the poorest of the poor, through microfinance loans to women’s cooperatives, training of village health workers, legal rights advocacy, organic farming and water treatment advocacy, a health care clinic, a training center, and two boarding homes for poor children. BIRDS works in partnership with PCUSA Self-Development of People programs, as well.There are 80 Dalit children waiting for sopnsore ($180/year)
- 2009 Mission Trip to "BIRDS" in Central India 80 boarding home children are in need of new school uniforms ($4 each, to level the “field” of middle class and poor students), new shoes ($3 would buy a pair canvass shoes, a pair of sandals, and a pair of sox for each child), and education and recreation supplies.
- San Francisco Network Ministries This 36-year-old ministry is centered in the Tenderloin and addresses the needs of the homeless and poor.
- Refugee Resettlement Ministry Congregations of the San Jose Presbytery are partnering together with Catholic Charities Refugee Resettlement Division and other community organizations to support refugees who are starting a new life in the Bay Area. Roughly 245 free case refugees resettle to the San Jose, CA, area every year.
- Ethiopian Ministry Project In partnership with the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus, Fremont Presbyterian Church (Sacramento) leads a coalition of seven congregations in a wholistic ministry to the Shekkacho people of Southeastern Ethiopia.
- Amazing Grace Ministry of Las Vegas Amazing Grace Ministry builds a community of faith among the homeless and near-homeless individuals and families living in the Las Vegas area.
- Los Ninos Health Insurance Project (Bakersfield) Nuevo Amanecer a New Church Development helps to provide health insurance for the children of poor farm workers, in their congregation, who cannot afford it on their own. When these children become sick, they often go without medical care, sometimes leading to serious and life-long complications.
- Westminster Woods Camp and Conference Center The Woods' is a well equipped camp located in a redwood forest in western Sonoma County six miles from the Pacific Ocean. Summer camps, adult programs, youth weekends and retreats are offered.
- Nuevo Amanecer, Hispanic New Church Development (Bakersfield) In their fifth year as a new church development in Bakersfield, Nuevo Amanecer ("New Hope") is led by Rev. Arcesio Cruz, an ordained Presbyterian pastor originally from Colombia This congregation works "diligently," confident that God blesses their outreach and service in the community. Their dream of a place to grow and expand and to build their own identity as a congregation was helped this year by being honored with the Walton Award. The $50,000 adds to their building fund, while they keep looking for a place they can afford.
- Church Hymnals Tutuilla Presbyterian Church is will be 128 years old this year. The hymnals that we have were used and were given to the church many years ago. They are simply worn out and out dated. We would like to get new hymnals. 100 matching blue hymnals in good condition would be welcome.
- Clean Water U West - Mission Training Center Clean Water U (CWU) is the training school of Living Waters for the World. Located high in the Sierra Nevada mountains a Calvin Crest Camp and Conference Center in Oakhurst, California, Clean Water U is a simulation experience designed to equip mission teams with the skills necessary to form partnerships with communities in need of clean water, equip local leaders to lead ongoing health, hygiene and spiritual education and install the Living Waters for the World clean water system.
- Marin Interfaith Council Bringing religious leaders and members of various faith communities together for study and celebration throughout the year. We discuss issues that concern all of us. Participants feel that faith and conscience compel us to make real a world where all people are valued, safe, fed, housed, and respected.
- Historic Tutuilla Cemetery Project Funding this grant will allow for the following: An opportunity for volunteers both Presbyterian and non Presbyterian, natives and non natives to work towards a common goal of expanding the cemetery and beautifying it at the same time.
- Hope Now for Youth (Fresno) Begun by the Rev. Roger Minassian, Hope Now For Youth targets gang members who have criminal records and are school dropouts. Working out of churches, the Hope Now staff share their faith in Christ and offer work site and after hours Bible studies, as well as marriage, family, and parenting classes. Hope Now has worked to place at-risk and gang youth into permanent jobs with 210 businesses with an 85% success rate and only an 8% recidivism rate. Hope Now has won national and state awards. Contributions help to pay salaries for the Hope Now staff, such as Rev. Roger Feenstra, the current director.
- Calvin Crest Conferences Calvin Crest has served as a mission and ministry since 1954. Tens of thousands of children, youth and adults have made life-changing decisions to give their lives to the Lord during camps, conferences and retreats. Calvin Crest also nurtures tomorrow's leaders. Thousands of pastors, youth leaders, and missionaries have responded to the call to servant leadership as campers of staff at Calvin Crest.
- Restore Historic Bell Tower on Tutuilla Church This historic church will be 128 years old this year. The bell tower is in need of repair and restoration, due to so many years of neglect. The extremes in temperatures has caused considerable damage.
- KAT - Kids About Town (San Anselmo) Our program is designed to foster civic-mindedness in middle school students. Open to church members and the greater Marin community, the group engages in activities that challenge the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to get to know each other, become aware of the needs of others, take responsibility, and Leave it better than you found it, whether it be a friendship, a community, the nation, or the planet.
- Harbor House Ministries (Oakland) This organization is a regional, multi-denominational, multi-ethnic nonprofit agency in the San Antonio district of Oakland with a focus on service to children, youth, families and seniors.
- Cameron House (San Francisco) This is an outreach to the Asian community of San Francisco with a close partnership with the Presbyterian Church of Chinatown.
- Out of the Box Food Ministries (West Sacramento) Out of the Box Ministries started as a partnership between Trinity Presbyterian Church and a local elementary school to help families make it through the month – alleviating some of the pressure on the family and reducing conflicts with kids. Now we provide boxes of nourishing food to about 120 families each month.
- V.O.I.C.E.S. (Voice Our Independent Choices for Emancipated Support) V.O.I.C.E.S. is a youth-founded, youth-led emancipation center for young people ages 16-24 who have been in foster care or other systems of care. V.O.I.C.E.S. provides services in 2 counties in the areas of housing, education, employment, and wellness to support youth in establishing a foundation for a satisfying life.
- Community Meal, McMinnville, OR On any Saturday just before 5:30 p.m., the lobby of First Presbyterian Church of McMinnville, OR, begins to fill with a wide variety of people. Church members mingle with the homeless, the elderly, the lonely and the poor.
- Interfaith Rotating Winter Shelter of Davis The Interfaith Rotating Winter Shelter of Davis (IRWS), is a community-based effort enabling member congregations to provide cold-weather shelter and hospitality on a rotating basis to persons who are homeless in the Davis community.
- The Edge Campus Christian Ministry at San Francisco State University This is a Christian residential ministry next to the San Francisco State University campus and is an active presence on the campus extending visible witness to the students, faculty and staff.
- West Valley Community Services Rotating Shelter West Valley Community Services serves the communities of Cupertino, San Jose, Monte Sereno, Saratoga and Log Gatos and does a remarkable job serving the hungry and homeless. One of their programs is a rotating shelter that moves 12-18 homeless men around to 12 churches for a one month stay at each location.
- Synod of the Pacific Presbyteries:
