San Jose Presbytery has had a close partnership with the Refugee Resettlement Program at Catholic Charities for more than twenty years. This organization resettles some 200 refugees here each year from war-torn places around the globe. Immanuel Presbyterian Church in San Jose Presbytery closed June 12, 2011. The congregation discerned God's leading to designate a "legacy fund" of $200,000 toward the purchase of a house for refugee ministry, to be called the Immanuel House. The Presbytery of San Jose is raising funds to add $200,000 toward this purchase.
San Jose Presbytery invites others to join and participate in this process.
San Jose Presbytery Executive Joey Lee, came from China with his family as refugees, and often speaks about the Presbyterian Church in Colorado that sponsored his family in coming to the U.S.
