The Mission Training Center at Calvin Crest began in 2009 as a partnership with Living Waters for the World. This partnership allows Calvin Crest Conferences to help churches and community groups become more involved in global ministries that are reaching out to communities in need of clean water. Calvin Crest has been hosting the West Coast training of Clean Water U and is need of a designated space to provide the training. Clean Water U is the training school of Living Waters of the World which provides a simulation experience that teaches people to become trainers to build and operate systems that helps deliver water to communities in desperate need. The program is designed to equip mission teams and local leaders with the skills necessary to form partnerships with communities in need of clean water, equip local leaders to lead ongoing health, hygiene and spiritual education and install the Living Waters for the World Clean Water System. The trained missionaries then take this knowledge to the communities they serve and are able to provide and service a Clean Water System.
The current leadership and board of Calvin Crest has determined the importance of utilizing the resources of the grounds and is looking beyond traditional week long camps and weekend retreats. As more churches and community groups take an interest in missions, Calvin Crest is an ideal location for groups to not only go through the Clean Water U program, but the location also gives individuals a place to reflect, learn and grow in their relationship with the Lord.
The completion of the Mission training building will also allow for Calvin Crest to provide mission training during the colder months as well as have an additional meeting place for meeting place for people of all ages when they attend a camp or conference on our grounds. To date the foundation, slab and roof for the mission training center have been completed. Calvin Crest has a 60 year history of providing ministry at 5,000 feet in the Sierra Nevada Mountains near Yosemite. Here people can find rest while they reconnect with Christ. God is at work here and lives are changed. The completion of this building will increase the number of people we can host during the year and would dramatically improve what we offer for our guests.
