The Latino Ministry Project was launched with a bilingual Three Kings Day celebration and continues to reach out to and build up Latinos in the West Sacramento area with a Spanish-language Bible study, a food ministry, Spanish-language interpretation by radio at Sunday morning worship, an English as a Second Language (ESL) class, a Spanish-language marriage class, an integrated youth group and kids’ choir, a “Spanish for Gringos” class to help English speakers relate to latinos, and occasional praise and worship events in Spanish. The outreach is still very young and some ministries we feel called to start, such as an afterschool program for kids, are resource-intensive and beyond the financial abilities of the church. The project is funded in part by a church transformation grant and in part by the church’s limited mission budget. We invite you to partner with us to break down barriers and create churches that look like what we’ll experience in heaven – lots of different people worshiping, serving, growing, and loving together!
