Joining Hands Sacramento is a project of the Sacramento Presbytery in conjunction with the PC(USA) Hunger program which connects 10 different presbyteries with 10 international partners for support and solidarity projects in various countries.  Sacramento Presbytery's international partner is India and the group is called CHETHANA “Life force”.

CHETHANA works with the poorest groups in South India including poor and marginalized farmers, women’s groups, Dalits (untouchables), bamboo workers and others who are seeking land rights and the power to create sustainable livelihoods.  Members of Sacramento Presbytery travel to India to learn firsthand about the issues and conditions faced by their partners and to work with them in ways that empower them to reach their goals.

Joining Hands Sacramento supports issues dealing with exploitive multi-national corporations, land use and water resources both here in the US and in India. The Joining Hands network around the world collaborates with other presbyteries and nations to bring about justice and relief from hunger and poverty.  People interested in participating with Joining Hands are welcome to join one of our tours to India and to work in the areas of water usage and globalization.
