As might be expected with a building of this age, there are constant maintenance and structural issues to deal with. In 2010, we were able to replace the double entrance doors and make several repairs with donated funds that have now been expended.
Our person most knowledgeable about the building, Jim Connelley, has determined the following needs:
1.) For safety reasons we need to construct and install a code compliant metal fire escape stairway and landing from the second story classrooms to the ground at the rear of the church. Proposal by local contractor .... $15,000
2.) We need a modern heating system for the sanctuary by insulating the walls and installing a modern, efficient, thermostatically controlled gas fire furnace and duct work to heat the sanctuary during the winter. Proposal by local contractor... $4, 965.
3.) The unpaved parking area needs road base grade gravel over the parking area to eliminate parking and walking in the mud and snow during the wet seasons. Proposal by local contractor...$675.00
4.) The entire roof needs to be replaced with a covering that will hold up to our extreme temperatures. Guestamate: $30,000 depending on what material we decide on.
