Goal: To meet increasing needs for food, shelter.

One of the community mission outreach projects of First Presbyterian Church is their support of Helping Hand.  Helping Hand is a joint outreach ministry of First Presbyterian Church, United Methodist Church, Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, St. Mary’s Outreach, all of Pendeleton, OR . Helping Hand is located at 346 SE Second Street. Their purpose is to provide goods and services to persons in need.  They receive funds, food, and other goods from private donations, church giving, and government grants. Helping Hand is staffed by a CAPECO employee and volunteers from churches and the community.

Helping Hand serves individuals and families without sufficient income to provide for the basic needs of both local residents and travelers “just passing through”. Helping Hand may be able to provide rental and utility assistance when presented with written documentation of need.

Helping Hand may be able to provide vouchers for overnight lodging, laundry, taxi, and gasoline to assist with private transportation for medical appointments.  Vouchers may also be available to fill prescriptions for medically necessary medications at local pharmacies.  Emergency food boxes are provided on Fridays.

Specific amounts of the above goods and services are determined by the individual needs of clients and the availability of funds.  Helping Hand works closely with other area agencies to fulfill the needs of each household.
